The Out of Town Couple band is a guitar and bass duo with vocals. Roger Brown plays guitar, and Leslie Thorne plays upright bass.The band plays an eclectic mix of Swing, Blues, Country and even some original tunes. We feature vocal harmonies, danceable rhythms and songs that tell a story.

The Out of Town Couple has appeared at Farmers Markets throughout San Francisco, the East Bay and Marin County. We have played at community events in the East Bay (Vine Street Block Party, Solano Strollish, Rockridge Stroll, El Cerrito Free Folk Festival), and some East Bay spots for music, (Kensington Circus Pub, Alameda Cinema Grill, Starry Plough).

Leslie played Upright Bass for many years with stints in some of the Bay Area college’s Big Bands where she honed her skills as a musician. Leslie later played Jazz Bass in numerous Jazz ensembles holding down the bass chair with Bill “Doc” Webster at Les Joulins Jazz Bistro six years before moving on to forming her own group with Roger.

Roger moved to California from New York in the late 70’s and found musical inspiration in the Bay Area’s active Blues scene, playing guitar and electric bass in numerous local Blues bands over the ensuing years. While still involved in Blues musical styles, he also has an abiding appreciation for other types of music for which the Out of Town Couple band provides an ample platform.
